Rensselaer County and Deloitte Launch Capital Region Accelerator Series
Rensselaer County Economic Development and Planning in collaboration with Deloitte launched the first in a series of Capital Region Accelerator programs for CEOs, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists on November 25, 2003 at the Rensselaer Heffner Alumni House. The program featured a presentation on the critical factors for a successful investor presentation including the "12 Magic Slides" needed to secure a follow up meeting with venture capitalists, advice on how to stand out among other competitors, and information on connecting with the right investors.
Eric Schmidt, Ph.D., chairman of the board and CEO of Google, shared his insight on what it takes to develop, implement and manage a successful sales strategy. Michael Moritz, one of the leading venture capitalists and general partner at Sequoia Capital provided his perspectives on successful top line strategies. (This was a rebroadcast from November 11, 2003 interviews of Messrs. Schmidt and Moritz.) Deloitte offered an overview of its Accelerator program, which assists new companies through the three most critical start-up challenges: funding and financial issues, team issues, and market issues.
